Kpop group SEVENTEEN member Woozi had an exclusive interview with the American magazine Teen Vogue.
On January 4, Teen Vogue, a famous US magazine, focused on the first solo mixtape ‘Ruby‘ by releasing an interview titled ‘SEVENTEEN Woozi’s First Solo Mixtape ‘Ruby’ 2022 Plan.’
Teen Vogue said of Woozi, “SEVENTEEN’s Woozi cuts a dynamic figure in the music industry. Since his debut in 2015, he’s become known for virtuosic musical talent, prolific songwriting, and a reserved demeanor that can shift from power to shyness in the space of one vital moment. As a lyricist, composer, and producer, the 25-year-old has over 100 songs credited to his name.”
In the following interview, Woozi talked about various things about ‘Ruby.’
He said, “The reason why I decided to release a new song instead of choosing an existing solo was that this was such a precious opportunity to make music that is unlike Woozi but also the most Woozi at the same time. First of all, I wanted to show a new side of myself as an artist. I wanted to make a song that could be a gift to CARAT,” he said sincerely.
Finally, “The time when I thought it was really tough was during the ‘Power of Love’ concerts in November. They were actually planned to be in-person concerts, but we had to change it to online only. I thought that we could finally meet CARATs in person this time. In 2022, I really want to eat in a restaurant with all the members together. That used to be normal, but [because of COVID regulations], we haven’t been able to do it these days,” he shared a simple wind with this year.
Shortly after its release, the mixtape ‘Ruby’ topped the overseas iTunes song chart in 18 countries. It includes iTunes Chile, Mexico, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Also, it ranked in the top 10 in 35 countries/regions, including Japan, Singapore, Spain, and Denmark.
In addition, ‘Ruby’ entered 3rd place on the Worldwide iTunes song chart, following Elton John and Dua Lipa’s ‘Cold Heart’ and Adele’s ‘Easy On Me.’
