Sangsoon Lee of ‘Super Band 2’ held his first fixed entertainment ceremony with Hyori Lee’s advice.
JTBC’s entertainment program ‘Super Band 2,’ which first aired on June 21st, depicts the first meeting of original members Yoon Sang, Jongshin Yoon, and new members Heeyeol Yoo, CL, and Sangsoon Lee.
Sangsoon Lee came to Seoul from Jeju as a judge. Sangsoon Lee explained why he decided to appear in ‘Super Band.’ He said, “When I’m in Jeju, I don’t have any communication with musicians. I think I’ll be able to see that through this program.” He also mentioned the advice he received from his wife, Hyori Lee, a senior in the entertainment industry. Sangsoon Lee said, “Hyori Lee told me to be careful with what I said. If what I say will help the other person, say something that will help everyone. Don’t miss the timing.”
‘Super Band’ is the first fixed variety show of Sangsoon Lee without Hyori Lee. Hearing this, Heeyeol Yoo said, “That’s why you’re so anxious,” and laughed.
Similarly, CL, who is the first to appear on a regular variety show, and the original members of ‘Super Band’ Jongshin Yoon and Yoon Sang and the ‘Super Band’ judges gathered as a whole. Sang Yoon said, “There are geniuses for each instrument. There has never been such a fun audition. There is no performance where these guys can’t show themselves. So ‘Super Band’ seems like the only way out for them.”
An important element in the band that the five judges emphasized was ‘chemistry.’ About the process of the participants selecting band members, Jongshin Yoon said, “At first, it felt like a human resources office.”
Heeyeol Yoo said, “There are also teams like BTS in Korea. K-pop is booming. But I can’t think of any band in Korea. I wish there were at least one such band. I think there must be an identity that no one can imitate. Also, I think the band should be really like a band.” He said in advance of his point of judgment.
Sangsoon Lee emphasized ‘the virtue of concession.’ He said, “The individual band doesn’t need to play well. I think the chemistry between the members is important. You can feel it when you yield and listen to other people’s voices.”
What Jongshin Yoon valued the most was ‘originality.’ Jongshin Yoon said, “We need to have a local aspect of speaking our language and growing up in our country. I think that’s the only way to be global. I’m looking forward to seeing female members participate. I hope that a mixed band will come out.” He also expressed his expectations for the female participants who will appear in ‘Super Band 2’ for the first time.
CL said that she would focus on performance and star quality. Heeyeol Yoo made everyone laugh by saying, “The only star is you, so you have to watch it carefully.”
Heeyeol Yoo said, “At first, I really wanted to know what to do. Why did I do it? I thought, ‘There are already two people I hate, so why did I do it?'” He mentioned Jongshin Yoon and Yoon Sang and made everyone laugh. Jongshin Yoon said, “When you said you were going to appear, I was like, ‘What do I do?”
Regarding the observation point, CL said, “They have different personalities, different thoughts, and how people who are seeing each other for the first time will come together to create a single piece. So, please watch.”
