Blackpink’s hit song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ music video surpassed 1.6 billion views on YouTube. This is the first time in the history of a K-pop group music video.
YG Entertainment announced that the music video for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 1.6 billion views on YouTube. It is as of 7:22 am on June 4th.
In fact, it is the highest number of views for a K-pop group music video. It is the record for the first time in two years and 11 months since Blackpink released it in June 2018.
‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is the title track of Blackpink’s first mini-album ‘SQUARE UP.’
It is popular for its addictive chorus and point choreography like shooting a pistol with both hands.
They became the first K-pop group music video to reach 1 billion views in November 2019. Blackpink has been rapidly increasing the number of views ever since.
With 61.7 million YouTube subscribers, Blackpink, the world’s second-largest artist after Justin Bieber, has 28 videos with hundreds of millions of views.
Some of the music videos with billions of views include, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ (1.6 billion views), ‘Kill This Love’ (1.3 billion views), ‘Boombayah’ (1.1 billion views), and ‘As If It’s Your Last’ (1 billion views).
Even the choreography video, not just the music video, has a lot of views. On the 24th of May, the choreography video for ‘How You Like That’ achieved 700 million views for the first time in a K-pop choreography video.
